REAL TRAILER RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS
Starry Eyes
Lighting: Most of the shots are lit very well and look normal from the start. This is done the emphasise the contrast between normality and twisted lengths she goes to become a star. At around 50 seconds into the trailer she is thrown in a dark room where the antagonists throw her into the spotlight, creating large areas of blackness which restricts the audience from knowing who is doing this to her so we feel almost in the same position and mental state as her throughout the trailer. This is done so that we can build a big connection with the main character and feel the emotions she is going through within the scenes of the trailer.
Camera Angles: To emphasis their ideas of restricting the viewer to feel a strong relationship between the audience and the main character they use a lot of close ups when the character is trapped to block the audience from seeing the full picture as she can't either. They also use a lot of high angles to make her look small and vulnerable in the shots.
Sound: At the beginning of the trailer, even before the scenes of the film in question are shown, they have used a bubbly soundtrack to showcase the innocence of the girl although it seems to portray a very sinister undertone throughout as the titles seem to imply that as she is blinded by this idea of fame. They also use her screams for one part to introduce each of the titels of the reviews. The technique seems to belittle her yelling and almost put us in the vilans perspective.
Editing: It starts with shots showing a very normal life for a girl of her age with very basic transitions. We are then shown with one scene where she snaps in a bathroom and this is the point where we are shown a very clear contrast in the editing to reflect the development towards the horror in the film. The transitions change from very basic jump cuts to cutting to black before changing the shot and a few where it cuts through multiple shots giving the editing speed a drastic change in pace for a second. This use of changing the pase for a second keeps the viewer on edge as they are having intense moments thrown at them throughout.

The Awakening
Lighting: Throughout the trailer the lighting contrasts from high key to low key lighting, which I think resembles good and bad, when the scenes are light nothing bad is happening it is just explaining the story line but I've noticed when the scenes become dark the situations becomes more intense and things start to go wrong. At the start of the trailer more light scenes are used rather than dark scenes, I think this is because is introduces the story in more of a realistic way so by the end of the trailer there are no more light scenes due to the trailer wanting to build tension and end the trailer with an impact to the audience to make them scared. I think we will follow the same structure as this trailer with more light scenes at the start of the trailer and then by the end all the scenes will be dark.
Camera Angles: I've noticed at the start of this trailer they use a lot of mid shots of the characters, I think they did this because they wanted to focus on the emotions of the characters because the situation in the trailer is that the young boy is in a coma which makes the story a lot more emotional for the viewers. But as the trailer goes on the different camera angles begin to be used more, high and low angle shots are used for when the characters come in contact with the demons/ evil spirits. This is to show the vulnerability of the characters.
Sound: At the start of the trailer the sound is very calm but still seems to be mysterious so the audience stays tense and not fully relaxed. 35 seconds within the trailer it becomes silent with no sound effects, this makes the viewers more curious in why it has become so quiet but also makes sure the next sudden sound effects frightens them. Also from the middle to the end of the trailer a heart monitor sound effect is used in the background to allow the plot of the trailer to relate back to the boy in the hospital bed. During the end of the trailer the sound begins to increase in speed and volume to gain a more scary atmosphere for when the final scare comes.
Editing: Throughout this trailer each clip lasts roughly 2 seconds, this makes the trailer very fast paced but has a contrast with a few longer clips to add a sense of panic, for example; when the Doctor was attacked by flies but then as soon as the flies disappear there is a sudden pause to emphasize that it was not real. The blurring transitions within this trailer are also very effective due to resembling time passing, the other transitions between the clips that have no blur resemble what is happening `now`.
